Black French Boulle Bracket Clock

Before Restoration Image
A black French Boulle Bracket clock before restoration. All metal mountings were tarnished and covered with surface dirt.

During restoration image
It shows all the parts of the casing with its mountings and panels. The Boulle parts had been restored, the lifting brass pieces glued back into position and the few missing pieces replaced. All brass parts have been polished and protected by varnish to prevent tarnishing.

After restoration image
This photo shows the clock case after the restoration has been completed. All the brass mountings have been cleaned and taken to have them re-gilt with 23 karat gold. All the parts have been assembled and the movement replaced.

Gustavian Mora Grandfather Clock

Before restoration image
This Gustavian Mora grandfather clock with blue base and gilt decoration came into our workshop with peeling surface and a lot of dents and gauges throughout the body.

During restoration image
We cleaned the surface first and painstakingly went through the entire clock to fill the numerous dents and gauges and glue back the peeling paint. The white spots show the areas that we had to fill and gesso.

After restoration image
This image shows the clock after the restoration was complete. The colours are brighter, and the blue base had been touched up to blend in all the many small repairs. The gilding had been touched up as well and aged to match the original finish.

Louis XIV Vernis Martin Bracket Clock

Before Restoration Image
This Louis XIV Vernis Martin bracket clock came into our workshop very dirty and tarnished. The original colour had been obscured by surface dirt and yellowed varnish.

During restoration image
This photo shows the bracket after the cleaning of the lacquer and the brasses. The return of the original vivid colour surprised even us.

After restoration image
The fully restored case seemed very bright and the polished brass finished the revitalized look.
A very successful result!

Mid-19th Century French Ebonized Boulle Cartel Clock

Before restoration image
This mid-19th Century French ebonized Boulle cartel clock had beautiful floral inlays with Mother of Pearl, brass and copper. Most of the Mother of Pearls was missing their place filled and overpainted with red. The brass mountings were tarnished and covered in dirt

During restoration image
This closeup shows the floral details. We had to remove all red areas, clean out their place and cut out the missing pattern from mother of Pearl to replace the original decorations. All lifting inlays were secured and later polished. All brass mountings were cleaned and varnished to prevent further tarnishing.

After restoration image
This image shows the restored clock.
The clock’s movement was by Valery, Paris.
